We include the highlights from the 2008/09 Scheme Annual Report and Accounts which this year includes additional information on our Key Performance Indicators on the service we gave you and how you rated the service you received. There have been some important changes at our AVC provider Friends Provident. We keep you in the picture with information on page 7 and finally LGPS benefits were extended last year to provide a dependant’s pension for Cohabiting Partners in addition to spouses, but only if we hold a completed Nomination Form. | The Avon Pension Fund has published its Annual
Report 2008/09. The report includes the accounts for the year, changes to the LGPS together with details of membership and changes to basic scheme details that have either taken place during the year or are proposed for the future. In addition, the report includes the Actuarial Statement applicable for the year and a report on Investments and Investment performance for the year. Read More |

August 2009 Supplementary Guidance for Independent Registered Medical Practitioners qualified in occupational health medicine (IRMPs) |

| The Supplementary Guidance issued by CLG (the Department for Communities and Local Government) makes reference to the IRMP (Independent Registered Medical Practitioner) completing sections of the standard Ill Health Certificate issued by CLG. Avon Pension Fund has therefore slightly amended the references in CLG’s ‘Supplementary Guidance for IRMPs’ so that they correspond to the appropriate sections of Ill Health Certificate LGPS17A which is to be used by the Scheme Employers of Avon Pension Fund when referring Active Members to their IRMP. | Some of you will have read about the above in the media.
Friends Provident are the chosen AVC provider for
Avon Pension Fund and some members of the Fund will have their AVCs invested with them.
Friends Provident will be writing in due course to each member of the Avon Pension Fund who has AVCs invested with them about the acquisition. We are assured by Friends Provident that the merger will not adversely affect members' AVC investments with them.
